Balik Kampung This Raya? Here's How You Can Avoid Tiba-Tiba Hari Raya.

If there were one word to describe how Raya 2022 turned out, it would be that it was the most unexpected Raya ever. Initially, everyone thought that Raya would be on Tuesday, but on Sunday night, it was announced that Raya would be the next day!
This news left most people feeling happy, confused, and nervous. Families rushed to prepare traditional Raya dishes like rendang, honey cornflakes, ketupat, and other essential foods that night.
This year, there's a rumour that Raya will fall on Friday instead of Saturday, so to avoid another chaotic Raya, here are some tips to help you prepare ahead.
Pack your stuff early:
We all know you have many "Baju Raya" to show off during Hari Raya. As a result, it's a good idea to pack your bags and prepare your clothes two days in advance. Iron your clothes, and perhaps bring a steam iron if your kampung doesn't have one. This will prevent your precious and expensive clothes and scarves from getting burnt.
Remember to pack your essential items like undergarments, Raya accessories (scarves, songkok and etc.), toiletries, makeup bags, new shoes and most importantly, the angpau bag!
Buy and prepare the cooking ingredients:
Have you sorted out the chickens and meats required to make the best rendang cooked by your mom or grandmother? Remember last year when everyone had to rush around to prepare and cook the dishes because it was announced last minute that Raya was the next day? Avoid that chaos by preparing ahead of time to skip the headaches.

Cleaning the house before Raya is not just for the guests; it's also for your peace of mind when you return home from your hometown. After being stuck in traffic for hours on your way back from kampung, you wouldn't want to come home to a messy house.
Plan your balik kampung journey well
Ensure you plan your balik kampung journey well in advance, or you may find yourself stuck in a horrendous traffic jam the night before Raya or at the airport on the first day of Raya. It's essential to make sure that the car is in good condition two days before your balik kampung journey or, preferably, a week before.
